Rock Hounding Archive
When you are collecting specimens in the field, be careful not to leave sharp chippings from where you hammered out a pit of a specimen. Some rocks are very sharp such as obsidian, and it's like spreading little tacks all over. Be a good rockhound and get rid of the sharp bits from out in the open where people and animals can walk on them. Submitted By: Ken B. Visit his favorite site at: www.Rockhounds.com
Believe it or not... you can find great rock specimens in your own state! (g) Everyone seems to think that you can only find good stuff in exotic locations, but there are rocks and minerals all over the place. Check online by searching for your state and rockhounding. You'd be really surprised at some of the great finds that might be in your own geological backyard! Submitted By: Jessy C . Visit her favorite site at: www.dragonmountaintreasures.com
